People of Tapworks: Chris Neumeyer

July 6, 2018

Chris is one of the newer faces behind the bar but seems like he's been here forever... (in a good way!). Catch him hosting Trivia or hosting board game nights (coming back this Fall).

Favourite Tapworks Beer

My first love was always lighter beers like the Blonde Ale… but the more time I spend at Tapworks, the more people tempt me to the dark side. And it seems to be working, my last five growler fills were Dark Mild or Stout.

Favourite thing(s) about living on the Coast

The people! Coming from the city where everyone’s in a rush, it’s amazing to get to know all my neighbors and everyone at the local shops. It also doesn’t hurt being surrounded by mountains and ocean though…

Where can we find you when you’re not at Tapworks?

When it’s nice, on the patio annoying my wife with random pointless trivia. When it rains, inside doing something cool like playing board games or violin.

What else can you tell us about yourself?

  • Spent most of my youth playing Dungeons and Dragons and violin (my parents sent me to orchestra camp every year)

  • Started DJing raves and nightclubs when I was in high school

  • Used to be draftsman working on industrial greenhouses (basically drawing rectangles all day) but quit drafting to go into radio after I found a "what I want to be when I grow up " report from junior high

  • Worked at TSN/Virgin Radio/QMFM for 10 years writing and voicing commercials

  • Played electric violin in a few punk bands, toured a bit and tied for best local band in the city in the Westender's awards

  • Moved to the Coast as part of a "Freedom 35" plan -- partially based on an episode of Trailer Park Boys
